Tokenized Equity

Company shares, issued or represented onchain

Tokenized Equities · Lesson 2.1

A tokenized equity is a token linked to shares in a company. It can be a share issued directly as a token and recorded in the company's register, or a claim linked to shares that a custodian holds for token holders. What backs the token, and who you rely on if something goes wrong, depends on the structure: the issuer, the custodian, any collateral and the legal terms. Tokenizing a share can speed up settlement and widen access. It does not change the company you are exposed to.

Wally’s note: check what is actually behind it

A tokenized share is only as good as its structure. Check what the token represents and who stands behind it.
