Tokenized Commodities
The metal stays in the vault. The claim on it moves.
A tokenized commodity is a claim on a physical commodity that someone else holds. Gold is the most common example. A custodian stores the metal in a vault, auditors or inspectors check that it is there, and each token represents a stated amount of it. Silver and other commodities work in a similar way.
The token does not change the commodity. It changes how a share of it can be held and moved: an amount of gold that once needed a broker and a vault account can sit in a wallet. Storage, audits and redemption still happen offchain.
A commodity token moves the claim, not the metal. Its value depends on the vault and the terms behind it.
