Mostly gold, and the vault matters more than the ticker
The tokenized commodities market is mostly gold. Examples include Paxos with PAX Gold, Tether with Tether Gold and Matrixdock with XAUm. Each token represents a claim on gold held with a custodian. Vault operators and refiners store and handle the metal, and auditors check that the bars are there. Issuers differ most in how holders can redeem: for cash, for physical gold or both.
